Healing Mass of Saint Sharbel 22nd of Each Month ~

Welcome to St. Sharbel Church!

The Passing of Mrs. Nohad El-Shami, Messenger of Saint Sharbel’s Most Famous Miracle
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025 we mourns the passing of Nohad El Shami, a humble woman whose extraordinary encounter with Saint Sharbel became a powerful testament to faith and divine healing.

Mrs. Nohad El-Shami, the woman who witnessed one of the most famous miracles of Saint Sharbel in modern times and became a living testimony to the power of faith and heavenly intercession, has departed to the house of the Heavenly Father.

In 1993, Nohad El-Shami became known for the miraculous healing* of her partial paralysis at the hands of Saint Sharbel, after he appeared to her in a dream and performed a surgical operation, leaving marks on her body that remain visible to this day.

Since that time, she dedicated her life to serving the mission of Saint Sharbel. She would recount her experience with humility and faith, spreading light into the hearts of believers in Lebanon and around the world.

The passing of Mrs. Nohad El-Shami leaves a deep impact on the hearts of all who knew her or heard her testimony. We pray that Saint Sharbel accompanies her on her journey to heaven, as he did in her suffering and healing, and that he grants comfort and hope to her family and loved ones through the promise of the resurrection in glory.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor this Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church.

Eternal Rest grant unto Nohad, O Lord, and let Perpetual Light shine upon her.  May she rest in peace.  Amen.

*In 1993, after suffering a debilitating stroke that left her paralyzed, Nohad El Shami experienced a miracle that would inspire countless souls worldwide. One night, she dreamt of two Maronite monks—one of them St. Sharbel—performing surgery on her neck. When she awoke, she was healed. Two surgical wounds marked her neck, and the paralysis was gone. This miraculous event revived faith in the hearts of thousands and became a beacon of hope for those seeking God’s grace.

Following her dream, Nohad faithfully visited St. Sharbel’s monastery in Annaya every 22nd of the month, as instructed by Saint Sharbel. To this day, pilgrims gather monthly to continue this tradition of prayer and devotion in Lebanon and here at St. Sharbel Church in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Nohad’s quiet life became a living testimony of faith, surrender, and the power of intercession. She inspired believers and skeptics alike, showing that miracles are not just moments of healing but reminders of God’s love and presence in our lives.

As we bid farewell to Nohad, let us honor her legacy by deepening our faith and trusting in God’s will. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her story continue to shine as a light for all who need a miracle.
St. Sharbel, pray for us.

“On the night of the 22nd January 1993, Nohad saw in her dream two Maronite monks standing next to her bed. One of the monks put his hands on her neck and started operating on her while the other monk relieved her from her pain by holding a pillow behind her back. When Nohad woke up from the dream, she discovered two long surgical wounds on each side of her neck. Nohad also noticed she could move her arms and walk on her legs as normal. Nohad was completely healed from hemiplegia.”
